Background
Pace Professional Systems Ltd. was founded in March 2002
by Derek Bruce and Ronnie Paton after purchasing the rights to
a new product being developed under their management from their former
employers.
In March
2005 PPS and Tycom formalised their business relationship which had
operated from the time that PPS first began trading and which had
resulted in the two firms building up a base of shared law firm clients.
The objectives of creating a formal partnership were to provide a single
point of contact for existing joint clients, to provide back up for the
support and development functions within PPS and to form a credible
contender for the business of bigger law firms by combining the core
skills of the two companies.
The
partnership brings together a team of people who have many years of combined experience of IT in law
firms and who are all eager to capitalise on that experience to make the
partnership a success. This specialist team is backed up by Tycom's
programmers, support staff and Microsoft certified software engineers to
ensure that we have all the IT answers for progressive law firms.

Ronnie Paton was Sales Director with Usher and Company from 1982 until
1990 during which time Ushers became one of the leading suppliers of IT
solutions for law firms in the UK.
Ronnie left Ushers to
join Pilgrim Systems and as Managing Director of Pilgrim, he saw through
the transition from Pilgrim's Advocate product which was based on DEC
PDP and VAX equipment to the very successful NT and SQL Server based
LawSoft product, which is now in use by many of the UK's biggest law
firms.
His enthusiasm to help
law firms enjoy the benefits of IT is now channelled into PPS.

Derek Bruce had a longer spell of
17 years with Usher and Company which he joined in 1979 after a
period in the IT department of Heriot Watt University where he had
previously completed a degree in computer science. His last
role with Ushers was that of Technical and Development Director when
he was responsible for the development of Unity which was the
Windows successor to their successful U-Legal product.
Prior to setting
up PPS, Derek worked with Pilgrim Systems as Development Manager on
LawSoft and then on the creation of a new product to complement
LawSoft. When Pilgrim decided to withdraw funding for the product
Derek and Ronnie negotiated its purchase and set up PPS to continue
the development of the product. |
