The process of recording all of the detail
required to submit a bill to SLAB to be paid for your work imposes a
significant administrative overhead on the firm and on fee earners in
particular. Whether your practice concentrates exclusively on legal aid
work or caters for both private and legal aid clients, LawPro will
simplify and speed up the administrative part of your fee earners time
allowing them to concentrate on their fee earning work.
Easy to use routines allow the capture
of all fee earner's billable time and activities. The system holds
all of the current SLAB rates and will calculate the billable values
including checking for minimum amounts, rounding and adjustments to
adjoining advocacy and non-advocacy times. Time spent on activities such
as telephone calls or preparation can be automatically captured by using
an on-screen time clock. LawPro will generate timesheets for submission
to SLAB based on the information entered by fee ear ners.
Time spent on secretarial tasks is
also reduced through the automation of document production by merging in
details from the LawPro contact and matter database. The billable value
of documents produced is captured as they are completed and the item is
filed against the matter record to which it belongs. Fee earners can
then call up an electronic copy of the correspondence file on screen
rather than pulling out the physical file. Incoming emails, scanned
correspondence and forms can also be stored in this electronic file.
LawPro incorporates a court diary
which links to matters and will provide each fee earner with details of
court cases coming up and can also provide an overview of all cases for
the firm. Fee earners can also enter key or critical dates against cases
and LawPro will then issue warnings when these dates come round.
As the case progresses details of
billable activities are captured as they happen and any outlays incurred
are recorded. The system will warn if the current authorised expenditure
is about to be exceeded in order to give time to apply for an increase.
Once the case is complete the bill can be produced automatically
avoiding the need to incur costs for external accountants and letting
you get your bill to SLAB with no delay.
Once the bill has gone to SLAB, LawPro
will help you track unpaid bills and measure abatements as well as
reporting on fee earner activity and performance.
